Whether local to the A.C.T. or interstate, we can offer a range of services from within our portfolio which will assist in many situations where otherwise an existing client may be disappointed by their preferred firm’s inability to act in relation to an area which is outside their mainstream practice area or where, as a part of a larger matter or related sequence of matters, a potential client requires some specialist advice.
Ultimately, our approach is always that “although your matter is our matter, your client remains your client”: our level of interaction with your client is set by your prior instructions. More generally, though, we have, and we wish to maintain, clearly defined areas of expertise within the firm, with the result that we are not only willing and able to accept agency work within our practice areas but, conversely, we would also be pleased to on-refer work that falls outside our practice areas.
In relation to our trade mark services specifically, in addition to a broad range of search and report activities, we have considerable experience handling both Australian trade mark applications on behalf of local/interstate principals and, also, international application and registration work, whether under the Madrid Protocol or as lead agents for a direct filing program. Our team is also willing and able to act in relation to oppositions, whether on paper or in person at hearings as required, and it has significant expertise across strategic filing and portfolio management issues.
