Instructing us

Introduction

Here at BL, we genuinely understand that going to a lawyer or a law firm can be daunting both from the point of view of actually dealing with a legal issue and in relation to the thorny issue of costs.

In order to help out, we have produced some general pre-instruction guidance as set out below plus some more specific information and documents that will reduce the time and uncertainty if you do decide to instruct us; as part of this help, we are now providing as much costs related information as we can on this webpage so that you can see in advance of contacting us how we will calculate and bill costs.

Before instructing us

If you want to discuss your requirements with us first on a ’no obligation’ basis, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We also have short notes on ways to save money when dealing with lawyers and, if you are new to dealing with lawyers, starting to instruct.

Please note that we also provide trade mark and design services; these are listed along with the applicable fees below.

If you decide to instruct us

If you decide to instruct us in a legal matter, the process is as follows:

Contact us to discuss the matter (we will ask for information along the lines of the Client/Action Sheet available at the link below, which you may use if you wish).
We will issue a Cost Pack (a template current version of which, including our standard (rack) pricing, is also available below for reference).
If you accept our proposals, you engage us by sending back the Costs Pack Acknowledgement & Agreement slip (template copy also below for reference).
We commence work on the matter.
You instruct us further and we respond as instructed.
